At Kala Dytuhi, we view Bharatanatyam education as a balance of discipline, artistry and self- discovery. Rooted in tradition and delivered through a structured pedagogical framework, our training nurtures technical precision, intellectual understanding and artistic expression.
Students are encouraged to approach learning with sincerity, consistency and respect for the the art, while developing the confidence to find their own voice within the classical framework.
Through regular classes, theory education, examinations, workshops and performance opportunities, we strive to create throughtful artists who embody both the discipline and beauty of Bharatanatyam.
VARSHA NAGARAJAN
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Varsha Nagarajan is a Bharatanatyam performer, teacher, choreographer, and founder of Kala Dyuthi Academy of Indian Classical Dance in Melbourne, Australia.
She began her Bharatanatyam training at the age of six and received advanced guidance from Guru Smt. Radha Sridhar of Venkatesha Natya Mandir. She completed all four levels of the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board (KSEEB) Bharatanatyam examinations and presented her Arangetram in 2011.
Varsha holds a Master of Performing Arts (Bharatanatyam) from Jain University, graduating with distinction and receiving a Silver Medal for academic excellence. She has also trained in Carnatic music, enriching her understanding of rhythm and musicality.
After beginning her teaching career in Bengaluru in 2013, she established Kala Dyuthi Academy in Melbourne in 2017. Under her leadership, the academy has become a respected institution within Australia's Bharatanatyam community, earning the Best Choreography Award at the Wyndham Dance Off (2023) and First Place (2024).
Committed to lifelong learning, Varsha continues her advanced training in Bharatanatyam and Nattuvangam under renowned gurus. She also served as President of the Bharatanatya Acharya Association of Victoria Australia (BAAVA) from 2022–2025, contributing significantly to the promotion of Bharatanatyam and Indian arts across Australia.
Through her dedication to performance, teaching, and mentorship, Varsha strives to preserve the rich traditions of Bharatanatyam while inspiring the next generation of dancers.
