OUR STORY
A space for traditional learning
Founded in 2017, Kaladyuthi is a space for traditional learning and development. We encourage creative presentation and discussion so that we can absorb new perspectives from each other. Set in a home environment, this space provides opportunities to grow and make new connections.
We offer Bharatanatyam lessons to all age groups in the Pandanallur Bani. We have regular classes throughout the week with separate batches for children and adults. Our small group settings ensure that there is a wholesome experience and equal attention for all.
The institute has been a part of several public performances and events held throughout Melbourne. We encourage students to take up certified Bharatanatyam exams as and when they are ready, providing them with the necessary challenge and motivation.
VARSHA NAGARAJAN
ABOUT THE FOUNDER
Varsha began her Bharatanatyam training at the tender age of six and continued learning under Guru Smt. Radha Sridhar from Bangalore. She actively participated in cultural activities at school level and in 2011, she completed her Arangetram under her guru's tutelage. She has also successfully completed the Bharatanatyam Proficiency exams, achieving good grades.
Although she has an Engineering degree in Medical Electronics, her ardent love of learning and teaching dance steered her towards making this her career. She is a B graded artist of the Bangalore Doordarshan Kendra, and she also has a Master's degree in performing arts from Jain University, Bangalore. She has had the opportunity to perform extensively on prestigious platforms in India and the USA. Titles such as "Nritya Shiromani" and "Nritya Bharathi" have been conferred on her in recognition of her distinguished and disciplined learning and performing career.
As much as she enjoys being a student to her Guru, she also adores teaching. She says "the best way to understand what you have learnt, is to teach".
After moving to Melbourne, Australia in 2017, she founded Kaladyuthi in Melbourne's west with a vision to nurture and promote Indian dance in the community.
